This project is an attempt to bring information to anyone who wants to know about the health of Irish Setters. Whether you are a breeder or a first time buyer or you want to know more about the fabulous breed this could not have been possible without the generous donations made to fund the data base through its first steps. The reasons that these wonderful people dipped into their pockets are broad, personal involvement with companions who suffered, a will to breed healthier dogs and a desire to do something that can bring about a change..take your pick. I would like to thank every individual for believing that we can be the people our dogs think we are.

What you need to know

The Legacy database, has been created using the generous donations of people wishing to help us maintain and improve the health of our breed. Legacy is currently free to access, and will remain so as long as possible. In the future, we hope to bring in advertising revenues to fund the ongoing support, but may also need to charge a small fee. The aim is to run it on a charitable basis, not profit making. We hope that with the mix of reports, and planned premium features such as forums to talk to fellow owners, you will want to keep returning to see the latest news and views. Each registered member will receive an annual, anonymised, report on the current breed health and mortality data collected, and other news.

Whilst your information will be held for the features listed above, it will never be shared with any other organisation without your prior permission. We do however retain the right to contact you in case of system news or urgent messages. We don’t envisage the need to contact you in this way more than a couple of times per year. Your information held is available to you at any time on request, and the detail and access to sensitive fields of information may be changed by you at any time. You also have the right to be forgotten and your personal data removed should you feel this is necessary. Whilst your supplied name and contact details are held on file, your personal details will never will not be shown publicly unless you give those details out in notes or forums yourself, but those of your dog needs be to be shown on the appropriate pages. Please read the legal section for further details on how we treat your information.

For the purposes of Legacy, the Breed Liaison is Geraldine Cove Print, who you may contact here if required: mail . The Breed Liaisons are the only people other than technical support, Mirzam, who have access to the private health details of individual dogs. A liaison is necessary with every breed, to bring confidence and perspective to the reports and their presentation to the members and public. If necessary they may also request members be contacted separately with any emerging statistics that they wish to be shared in more detail, but still privately and anonymously unless permission is given or the information is already in the public domain.

  • You can view Data by a Dog's name or by a health condition
  • You can add your own dog's details as well as a photograph and list the health checks and achievements
